Iberian Magazine 2025

I saw a post on Instagram of a woman who turned her honeymoon holiday into a fashion/travel magazine. This post was actually an ad for Canva Pro, which I will likely end up paying for or using the account of someone with existing Pro access to complete the project (get gotted Jobee). However, the idea seemed so much more fulfilling and creative than trying to distill 17 days of travel through the Iberian Peninsula into an "Instagram dump post" of 20 photos or less. Spoiler alert, there were 5 people on the trip, and I took over 1000 photos by myself.

The allure of a traditional print media format is hard to deny, the feeling of flipping through old photo albums with your family can't be replicated digitally. I want to create a whole magazine to be able to flesh out the feelings of the trip, even wander off topic if that's what is called for, without being constrained by something as arbitrary as post limits. The final product is something I hope to keep copies of in reserve, to bring to an event like my 50th wedding anniversary, for guests to be able to see how I spent time with my spouse in our younger years.

I'm currently very busy with work, on a course that demands well over 70 hours of intense mental and physical work a week and consumes your personal life as well as professional. I'm definitely unsure of how much time I'll be able to devote to the magazine as there are full articles I want to write for it on top of the selection and placement of the photos and text describing events and experiences. If I can manage to finish this project before I die, I'm so excited to be able to have an entire trip curated into a print magazine that I can gift to my family, keep on my mantle, and use to revisit the memories of the trip.

Stay tuned for updates!
